Oh, the accomplishment:

* A week of homework done far ahead of time.
* A letter and emails written.
* Several home-cooked meals and a clean house.
* An LJ mini makeover and a new icon.
* New projects planned and waiting for commencement.
* French settling in my brain and spilling in unlikely situations.

Mais oui! Industry cures stress, lingering ennui (a delightful word borrowed from the Frogs), and a smelly house. Sweetness conquers, assisted by slow approaching, subtle autumn. Poetry demands an audience, but French is all that's too be had. A rich substitute, for it is a language pregnant with poetry.

La vie est délicieuse, et moi-- je suis contenu.

My New Testament paper is done done done! I turned it in late last night, a full 18 hours before it was due. Plus, it turned out pretty well--I may even be proud of it.

Several other happy things: this weekend is the Opera Scenes production here at school (in which I have two starring roles). It will be so wonderful to have that behind me. Also, because of the production and an out-of-town professor, I have two classes canceled this week. Woohoo! And finally, last weekend Matt and I took a bunch of pictures of us and each other (yep, I'm a crowd-follower, heheh), so as soon as he uploads them, I'll be making new icons and posting photos! Yay!

Off to lunch...

Why oh why did I choose Matthew 24 as my subject for this 10-pager? *whine*

For some reason I feel it is important to make note of that.

Today I will really and truly dance in pointe shoes for the first time in my life. In a bird costume, nonetheless. Yes, it will be quite funny and ouchy.

Often I get the urge to drop everything and fly to Europe and spend weeks and weeks there just soaking it all in, with no other concerns than which cafe serves the best wine. Ironically, I probably won't have the time or resources to do any of this until I am too old to enjoy it. Few people avoid this sad predicament. I, however, will put much thought and effort into avoiding it.

I like posting. I wonder why I haven't done it more often.

Today is such a beautiful day! Sunny, fluffy clouds... breezy, warm. Plus I'm wearing a skirt, which makes the day even more delightful.

After forgetting for half the day that today is the day, I finally registered for next semester's classes about an hour or so ago. It will be an odd (but nice) semester mostly due to the fact that I will be taking hardly any music classes. Quite strange after taking mostly music classes the first four semesters! It will be a welcome break, though. Instead of slaving away at music theory, piano practicing, and sight-singing (bleah), I will be studying fun things like Shakespeare (hurrah!), political thought, French, and theology. Tantalizing.

This lovely Spring weather is giving me a rush of energy-- time for a walk outside!

You all have not been posting enough lately. My friends page boasts a sad number of recent entries. *frowns, especially in the direction of Bethany and Rachael*

Just kidding, of course. ;)

My first week back at school ended without incident. This past weekend was spent away at a retreat center with my choir, bonding and singing for insane amounts of time. It was supposed to be a time of relaxing and fellowship, but it was actually quite stressful and busy. Upon my arrival back to campus yesterday afternoon, I realized with dismay that the entire weekend had passed and I had slept but a little. I will have to make up for this next weekend.

That's all for now... just a quick update... I must now resume working. :)

The semester is over, finals are ahead, home and Christmas are ahead, and behind are all the things I meant to do this semester. And there are so many.

People tell me that life only gets busier after college. Well, if that is true, I don't know how I'm going to survive. The most I've been able to keep up with these past few months is my schoolwork, plus a few odd-and-ends here and there. My friends can tell you how I've neglected them. The little projects that I thought I'd easily be able to accomplish sit gathering dust under my bed. But I'm getting A's, so that's good, right?

Last year I spent a lot of time thinking about what my attitude toward my schoolwork should be. Should it be the number one priority right now, or are other things in life more important? Should I do just enough to get by in school, or should I pour my all into it? I finally decided that since school is what God has called me to right now, I should pour all my energy into it. Boy, is it sucking my time away.

I'd love to find a way to give 100% in school and keep up with everything else in my life. I want to have time to write long letters, keep up with my online and "real life" journals, spend time with friends, spend time listening to music, watching movies, getting my body back in shape, reading something other than a textbook, writing again. "If only there were more hours in the day" is the cop-out response... surely there are enough. Enough to do everything well and get a good night's sleep at the end of it.

Next semester will be busier than this one was. But I have Christmas Break before me, and maybe during that vacation I will figure out how to salvage a few extra hours each day in which to do the things I really want to do.

Back to college. Back to life as I am getting used to it. You all probably won't miss me much these next few days, but I will feel acutely how much I missed you when I wade through hundreds of entries upon my return. ;)

Happy weekend, all.

Aaahhh... accomplishment sure feels good.

Currently I am sitting in the lovely Music Library here on campus, glued to one of the *&%#$ Macs (that work only when they feel like it--grrrr...), upon which I have just finished an hour of homework in forty minutes. heheh In fifteen minutes I will return to my dorm room where I will complete the last page of a Biology paper that's not due until Tuesday, prepare the dozen thank you notes and misc. letters (including one for you, Bethany!) I wrote earlier this afternoon for mailing, proofread my Theory assignment, and check on my laundry. From thence I shall have the rest of the evening deliciously free, and I will probably use the time to talk to my father and check on a friend who is ill.

Funny, on a usual Sunday evening at this time you could find me in my room (or in the Library) freaking out because of all the work I have yet to do. It's lovely that this Sunday is different. Maybe I should make this a habit. :)

It has been an interesting day. Outside a dusting of snow covers the ground, uncertain whether to stay a while or melt away, music I had all but forgotten about pours forth from second-rate speakers, dinner settles itself happily in my stomach, and my work is getting done.

Interesting, indeed.

Retreat is over and retreat was good. Now back to ordinary life...

I have some comments to reply to from my previous entry, and several new thoughts to share, but right now I find myself incapable of doing anything but resting. So go I now to nap a bit before dinner.

It is good to live this life before Him.
