All this time on break, and tomorrow I will finally get my act together and mail my best friend's birthday and Christmas presents. I am such a bad person.

***

It was snowing (actually, flurry-ing) a moment ago, and now the sun's out. Bizarre! But that's one of the best things about living on this mountain: the ever-morphing weather.

***

Only an hour-and-a-half until our Monopoly marathon begins! Woohoo!

I feel the strangest urge to post, but I really have nothing in particular to say. I suppose now would be a good time to be vague, just to get people wondering and posting inquisitive comments, but I don't feel like it.

What do I feel like? Hmm. Sleeping in tomorrow. Dancing. Reading something other than the newspaper or LJ-- something that takes great time to digest (time that I don't have!). Shopping for something frivolous. Talking with someone on the phone. Baking macaroni and cheese.

Well, what do you know. Someone just called.

Off to converse...

Let the frivolities begin. :)

* I got a new Mini Maglite today. The first I've ever owned. It's purple. :-D

* I had a great chat online today with a dear friend from whom I hadn't heard in over two months.

* I got nine hours of sleep last night. On a weeknight. Unheard of.

* I packed up all my belongings today, for perhaps the tenth time in my life (no, I'm not kidding).

* Seeing as I packed up everything, and cannot leave anything behind, I have set myself the task of eating the two remaining boxes of chocolate that still reside in my room before this weekend. heh heh heh

* There are few things as happy as cucumber tea lights.

* Except maybe Mozart sung by Susan Graham.

* I'm going to Ireland in eight days!!!

It's almost midnight, all my homework was completed a half-hour ago, and in the midst of the relative silence of this computer lab a nagging question demands an answer:

Why am I not in bed?

Heheh. :)

The peace following a job well completed and a day well lived is an amazing thing to feel. A sleepy sense of profound happiness flows through my veins.

Good night, world.

I love this thing. It's strange now for me to think that once I thought an LJ was only for egocentric, rambling internet-addicts who have forgotten the meaning of real life. (And, may I add, for girls whose entire lives are written in ITALICS??? heheh)

Yeah, and so it is with AIM.

Well, guess I've joined the dark side, eh? ;-)

Strange, too, how lonely it feels when the only online buddies on your list are yourself, RingMessenger, and Smarterchild. None of them can provide good conversation.

I'm afraid I'm too dependent on the internet! Our cable modem was out for most of this week and last, and I felt totally disconnected. (Ha--I was!) I contact most of my friends primarily online (through e-mail, AIM, or whatever), so when I can't get to them I end up feeling horribly alone. Gone are the old days when friends were those who lived nearby. The world is a smaller place these days, but that does not necessarily make it more intimate or personal. In fact, it seems the more ways we create to keep in touch with each other, the less personal our relationships become.

Where did that philosophizing come from? I meant this to be a non-serious entry. I don't feel serious; why am I writing like I do? Weird.

For those of you who don't believe that alternative rock is sinful, check out Third Day's newest CD Come Together. Great stuff: the best CD they've produced yet. I've listened to it as I travel to and from work for a week now, and haven't tired of it yet...

Happy three-day weekend, everyone.

Friday.

Funny, sometimes it really seems like the end of the world. Duties have been performed, freedom is before, and soon we will celebrate the presence of the Lord. Let the jubilee begin!

"Time hurries on..."

Strange how I often think of Simon lyrics while contemplating philosophically. Strange how they reflect my state of mind. I'm not so deep as I look when I stare into the back of your eyes.

And I wait. For friends; for things; for life. True, I'm living now, but there is so much yet to come. One customer in the store said today that to be 95 is a great blessing. She's right. I wish more people agreed with her.

I am hanging on the edge. Catch me!

Isn't it strange how small phrases can elicit such strong emotions from us? How the utterance of "go on" can make one feel needed, loved, and how "me too" can lift one's spirits! In a negative sense, just a few words can also be absolutely detrimental. Words are truly powerful. Nations have been built and destroyed over them. People have fallen in love and fallen to the depths of despair because of them.

Your words are your true witness to the world. So here are two little words of advice: be careful!
