Well, last night's free skate was quite exciting! I was so proud of Eldredge--he pulled off a beautiful performance. Not a bad way to bow out, eh? (And by the way, what's with Scott Hamilton talking about Eldredge, Stojko, and Weiss as if they were all going to die? "He'll be missed...his final performance...he was a great athlete...etc., etc." Good grief, it was just their last Olympics!! LOL) Stojko did pretty well, too; it seemed like he was just out there for the joy of skating, not worried at all about his marks. His spins are still tops! :-)

It surprises me today how mean I was last night during the skate. hee hee For everyone I disliked (quite a few!) I had a little chant going something like this: "Fall! Fall!! Tushy-time! Feel the ice...be the ice. Land on your REAR!" Cruel, wot? :-) Hannah joined in from time to time, too. I'm afraid I'm a bad influence. ;-)

Anyway, that said, I'm quite happy with the outcome. As much as I want to squash Plushenko's face until that nose of his bleeds, he really did deserve his silver medal. Yagudin, of course, pocketed the gold the moment he stepped on the ice...no contest. I think, however, he may have some serious competition from Goebel the next time around. That young man has the most flawless jumps I have ever seen from any skater. Now all he needs to do is work hard on his artistry and presentation, and he'll be unbeatable. Wow. I still can't get over how easy he made that quad salchow look. Simply awesome.

Now, we'll see how intense the ladies' competition will be! There are some pretty strong personalities on the US team...things could get ugly. Let's hope not!
