Thanksgiving with the fam was wonderful. I got sick (and now Matt is sick), but we still had a great time, and my little nieces were pretty well-behaved, and I have lots of pictures! I'll upload them later this afternoon.

Isabella (my 3-yr-old niece), during the long, dead-of-night drive to Georgia: Liesl, what are you doing?
Me: I'm trying to sleep. Go to sleep, Isabella.
(silence)
Isabella: What are you doing now??
Me: Still trying to sleep! Be quiet and lie down.
(silence)
Isabella: Maybe I'll sleep when we get to Grandma and Grandpa's house.
Me: Nope, then it'll be morning. Go to sleep.
Isabella: But I'm looking outside.
Me: There's nothing to see. It's dark. Go to sleep.
(silence)
Isabella: Liesl, what are you doing now??
Me: *sigh*

It's supposed to snow tomorrow. Like, for reals. There's a 90% chance. *is shocked*

Some teenagers wearing bright blue body paint just walked through the library.

Surely there are better things to do with one's summer vacation...

Spotted at TowerRecords.com:

"One of opera's most talented pairs, Angela Gheorghiu and Roberto Alagna perform a special celebratory concern in Dresden, Germany. Filmed in the breathtaking outdoors in July of 1999, their set of several lovely opera classics is as refreshing and inspiring as the warm summer air." (emphasis mine)

It is incredible how many people suffer from the delusion that obscure poetry is the most profound. Indeed, the less sense a poem makes, the more profound it is supposed to be. How come they to this conclusion? Do they assume that obscurity opens up the poem to a broader range of subjects, enabling it to contain an infinite number of meanings? Or have they decided that since they cannot make sense of the poem, its meaning must be too complex for them to comprehend?

In any case, it must be stated that Burlap to Cashmere's "Chop Chop", without doubt, proves it all to be nothing but nonsense.
